XMR on Hyperliquid: how to bridge, trade and withdraw Monero

Monero is not native to Hyperliquid. XMR1 is the spot token you can bridge in from a Monero wallet and bridge back to native XMR. How it works, what to check, and how it differs from the XMR perp.

You can hold XMR on Hyperliquid in two ways. XMR1 is the Monero representation on Hyperliquid: send XMR to the Wagyu bridge and you receive the same amount of XMR1, then bridge it back to native XMR when you want. The XMR perpetual is a leveraged contract on the price, settled in USDC, which never pays out Monero. This guide covers XMR1: how to get it, how to trade it and how to take your Monero back out.

Key takeaways

  • XMR1 can be bridged back to native XMR on the bridge. The XMR perp cannot.
  • XMR1 trades against USDC on Hyperliquid's spot order book.
  • The bridge form shows the live fee, minimum and availability before you send.
  • Your Monero privacy pauses while you hold XMR1: Hyperliquid balances and trades are public.

Three ways to get XMR on Hyperliquid

Which path you take depends on what you hold today.

Ways to get XMR1 on Hyperliquid
You holdWhat to doWhat you pay
XMR in a Monero walletBridge it to XMR1The bridge fee shown on the form
USDC on HyperliquidBuy XMR1 on the XMR1/USDC order bookThe spread and Hyperliquid's spot trading fee
BTC, ETH, SOL, USDT or USDC elsewhereSwap to XMR, then bridge itThe swap fee, then the bridge fee

If you already have USDC on Hyperliquid, buying XMR1 directly is the shortest path. If you hold Monero, the bridge brings the same amount of XMR1 to your Hyperliquid address.

Bridge XMR to Hyperliquid

1. Open the bridge yourself

Type the address or use your own bookmark, then check the address bar before you open the bridge: copies of the site on other domains exist. Do not follow links from ads or direct messages.

2. Choose XMR to XMR1

Paste the address of your Hyperliquid account as the recipient. XMR1 arrives there directly.

3. Read the fee and minimum

The form shows the current fee, minimum and availability. The minimum applies to the amount you send, before the fee.

4. Send XMR to the deposit address of your order

Copy it from the order, never type it. Each order has its own deposit address.

5. Wait for confirmations

XMR1 is credited once your Monero deposit is confirmed. The order page shows its progress.

Send at least the minimum. The minimum is a floor on the gross amount you send, in both directions, and fees are deducted from it. The native bridge docs explain the rules.

Trade XMR1 against USDC

XMR1 trades on Hyperliquid's spot order book against USDC. There is no XMR1 pair against USDT: if you start from USDT, convert it to USDC on Hyperliquid first, or swap USDT to XMR and bridge the XMR.

Spot trades on Hyperliquid pay a maker or taker fee that falls with your trading volume. Read the current schedule in Hyperliquid's documentation before you place a large order, and look at the order book depth: a market order larger than the visible liquidity moves the price against you.

Before you buy XMR1

  • The token is XMR1
  • The pair is XMR1/USDC
  • The order fits the visible depth

Before you sell XMR1

  • Decide whether you want USDC or native XMR
  • To get XMR, bridge back instead of selling
Check the token name. Other tokens with XMR in their names exist on Hyperliquid. Only XMR1 can be bridged back to native XMR on the Wagyu bridge.

Withdraw native XMR from Hyperliquid

1. Choose XMR1 to XMR on the bridge

Paste the address of your own Monero wallet. A wallet such as Feather or Cake Wallet gives you one.

2. Send XMR1 from your Hyperliquid account

Use the funding instruction of your order. The payout is calculated from the XMR1 actually received.

3. Receive XMR

You receive native XMR minus the withdrawal fee shown on the form.

Once the XMR is in your own Monero wallet, it is private again: Monero hides amounts, senders and receivers on its own chain. The Monero project explains how.

XMR1 or the XMR perp on Hyperliquid?

If you want to own Monero and keep the option to take it out, use XMR1. If you only want price exposure, with or without leverage, the perp does that, but it never pays out Monero.

Start from BTC, ETH, SOL or stablecoins

Wagyu does not sell crypto for cash or card. If you hold another coin, swap it to XMR first, received in your own Monero wallet, then bridge it. Each swap shows its rate and fee before you send.
