How to buy Zcash without KYC in 2026

To buy Zcash no KYC, you swap a coin you already hold for ZEC, with no account and no identity check, and have it paid to a shielded address you control. What it costs, how long it takes, and which address to use.

Send BTC, ETH, SOL, USDT or XMR to a one-time deposit address and receive ZEC at your own Zcash address, paid to its shielded receiver. For example, SOL to ZEC has a 2% Wagyu fee and a minimum of about $20; BTC to ZEC has a 2% fee and a minimum of about $40. The table below covers five common routes. You do not need an account or identity check to use the swap.

One thing to know first. Buying ZEC is not the hard part; large exchanges list it. Getting it into the shielded pool without an account is. Most exchanges withdraw ZEC only to a transparent t1 address, where the amount and the address are public. Wagyu pays the shielded receiver of the address you paste. Wagyu does not sell Zcash for cash or card: if you start from fiat, buy one of the five coins wherever you already can, then swap it here.

The best way to buy Zcash no KYC in 2026

A crypto-to-ZEC swap lets you use coins you already hold without creating an exchange account. Peer-to-peer markets may also be available; compare their availability, costs and requirements for your situation.

Before you pick a service, check three things. For Zcash the second one matters more than for any other coin.

  1. Is the fee shown before you deposit? Wagyu shows the platform fee and applicable trading, routing and rounding costs in the quote. Your sending wallet charges its network fee separately; the final output can change with the market.
  2. Does the ZEC land shielded? Ask whether the service pays the shielded receiver of a unified address or only a transparent t1 address. A transparent payout puts the amount and your address on a public chain, and shielding it afterwards costs a second transaction that stays on record. Wagyu pays the shielded receiver.
  3. What happens if a deposit is flagged? Wagyu screens deposits before execution. A failed check normally moves the order to a refund flow, which can require a refund address and further checks. The compliance policy describes legal restrictions and exceptions.

One route, one deposit, no account, and the ZEC arrives shielded. That is the whole method; the rest of this page is the detail.

Why an exchange is not the same as buying ZEC privately

Unlike Monero, Zcash is still listed on large exchanges, so buying ZEC is easy if you are willing to open an account. They ask for identity verification first, and most send ZEC out only to a transparent address. Kraken's withdrawal page lists t addresses as supported and zs addresses as not supported, and Coinbase withdraws ZEC to transparent addresses only. Gemini is the exception that can withdraw to a shielded address, still behind a verified account. Check the exchange's own withdrawal page before you rely on any of this; listings and address support change, and some exchanges have delisted ZEC in some countries.

A transparent withdrawal is not a disaster, but it is a public record: the exchange's hot wallet, your t1 address and the amount are visible to anyone, and they are linked to the identity you verified. Shielding the coins later hides what you do next, not that withdrawal.

If you start from fiat, one option is to obtain a supported cryptocurrency first and then swap it to ZEC. USDT is designed to track the US dollar, but its price can deviate from the peg and the ZEC price can move while you prepare a swap.

Shielded or transparent: which Zcash address to use

A Zcash wallet can show you several kinds of address. The prefix tells you which one you have, and Wagyu treats each one differently.

u1… unified

The default in current wallets. Wagyu pays its shielded receiver; this is the one to use.

zs1… Sapling

Shielded, the older pool. Accepted and paid shielded.

t1… transparent

Works, but the payout is public on chain. Use it only if it is all your wallet gives you.

tex1… TEX

Refused. This type only accepts funds from transparent sources.

On a shielded payout the receiving address is not published on chain. Zcash has two shielded pools, Sapling and Orchard, and an amount can become visible when a payment crosses from one to the other. A current u1 address carries an Orchard receiver, which normally keeps the payout inside one pool.

Get a shielded Zcash wallet first

You need a Zcash address before you start, ideally a u1 unified address. These wallets give you one. Allow time to set up, back up and synchronise your wallet.

How to buy Zcash without KYC, step by step

Choose a route, prepare your wallet and send the deposit. Typical time from deposit detection is about 10 minutes for SOL, 10 minutes for USDT on Ethereum, 10 minutes for ETH, 10 minutes for XMR and 20 minutes for BTC. These estimates exclude wallet setup and waiting for you to send.

1. Choose your coin and enter the amount.

Open the swap, pick your coin, network and Zcash as the destination. The quote shows the rate, fee breakdown and estimated ZEC output for your amount.

2. Paste your Zcash address.

A u1 or zs1 address is paid shielded; a t1 address is paid transparent. No wallet connection, no signature, no sign-up.

3. Send the exact amount.

You get a one-time deposit address and an exact amount. Send it from any wallet or an exchange withdrawal. Screening runs on the deposit at this point.

4. Receive ZEC at your address.

The order goes through confirming, routing, trading and sending. The ZEC lands at your address and the transaction id is on the order page.

Which coin to bring

These are five common routes to ZEC. Fees and minimums below apply to the default networks and example amounts shown on the linked pair pages. Other supported assets and networks are available in the token picker; use a quote to check a specific combination.

Typical times are editorial estimates from deposit detection, not live measurements. Network load, confirmations and order size can change the result. USDT uses Ethereum in this table; changing network may change both the minimum and timing. If a quote is unavailable, its dated historical example is labelled in the table and used in the article text.

Already hold Monero? XMR to ZEC moves between the two privacy coins with no transparent hop of your own: the deposit is private by Monero's design and the payout goes to your shielded address.

No KYC is not no screening

No account or identity check is required for the swap. Address and transaction screening runs before execution and can run again during recovery or refunds.

A deposit that fails screening normally enters a refund flow. You may need to supply a refund address, and checks or legal restrictions can affect the refund. The compliance policy describes the rules, including court or authorised-government orders.

Check the compliance policy for eligibility, geographic restrictions and prohibited uses before swapping.

What we check

  • Sending addresses and transactions against the applicable screening rules
  • That the amount matches the order
  • That your Zcash address is valid and not a tex1 address

What we never ask

  • Your name, email or phone number
  • An ID document, a selfie or a proof of address
  • A wallet connection or a signature

Where your Zcash lands

You receive native ZEC at the address you paste, to its shielded receiver when it has one. Nothing stays on Wagyu, so there is no balance, no account and nothing to withdraw later. A Zcash block comes about every 75 seconds; your wallet shows the ZEC once it has synced that block, and some wallets wait for a few confirmations before letting you spend it.

Every order gets its own deposit address. Never reuse one from a previous order; coins sent to an old address are not matched to a new swap.

No KYC Zcash exchange or Zcash swap: which one gets you shielded ZEC

People search for a Zcash exchange no KYC and land on two different things. A centralised exchange sells you a balance and asks for an account first. A Zcash swap no KYC takes one deposit and sends ZEC out. The table is the whole difference.

Frequently asked questions

Can I buy Zcash without KYC?

Yes. Send BTC, ETH, SOL, USDT or XMR to a one-time deposit address and receive ZEC at your own Zcash address. No account and no ID at any point.

Can I buy Zcash anonymously?

Wagyu does not require an account or identity check for the swap, but deposits are screened and the source chain may be public: a Bitcoin or Ethereum deposit is visible on its own chain. Paying ZEC to a shielded address hides the recipient on the Zcash side; this does not guarantee anonymity for the whole purchase.

Will my ZEC be shielded?

Yes, if you paste a u1 or zs1 address: the payout goes to its shielded receiver. A t1 address is paid transparent, and a tex1 address is refused.

What is the fee?

It depends on the route. For example, SOL to ZEC is 2% and BTC to ZEC is 2%. The quote shows applicable trading, routing and rounding costs too. Your deposit network fee is separate and output can change during execution.

What is the minimum?

On the default networks: BTC $40, ETH $20, SOL $20, USDT $20 and XMR $25. Changing the network can change the minimum; check your quote.

How long does it take?

Typical times from deposit detection are SOL 10 minutes, USDT on Ethereum 10 minutes, ETH 10 minutes, XMR 10 minutes and BTC 20 minutes. These are editorial estimates. A Zcash block then comes about every 75 seconds, and some wallets wait for a few confirmations before the ZEC is spendable.

Is buying Zcash without KYC legal?

Rules depend on your jurisdiction and circumstances. Check local rules, tax obligations and the Wagyu compliance policy before swapping.

Can I buy Zcash with cash or a card on Wagyu?

No. Wagyu swaps crypto to crypto only. Buy one of the five coins first, then swap it to ZEC here.

Can I sell Zcash the same way?

You can also swap ZEC to supported assets such as BTC, XMR and USDT, paying the deposit from a shielded or transparent wallet. Check the quote for that direction to see its current fee and minimum. Start with ZEC to BTC.

Pick your route to ZEC

Every route below opens the swap with Zcash already selected as the destination: BTC to ZEC, ETH to ZEC, SOL to ZEC, USDT to ZEC and XMR to ZEC. Every Zcash route, with its fee and time, is on the Zcash swap page.

Selling instead? See ZEC to BTC, ZEC to XMR and ZEC to USDT. Each page shows the fee for that direction.

XMR to ZEC measured median execution: 3.8 min across 11 completed swaps in the 30 days ending Oct 1, 2026, 10:02 PM UTC. Measured from deposit detection to the final recorded workflow step; excludes the wait before sending and wallet unlock time. This historical median is separate from the typical estimate above.

Written by the Wagyu team

Wagyu offers swaps between Zcash, Monero and supported networks, with Zcash paid to the shielded receiver of the address you give. Fees and minimums use cached public API quotes with their timestamps. Typical times are editorial estimates; measured medians, where available, are shown separately.
